Amsterdam, October 2013

I'm excited to introduce The Jacket, my latest creation: a limited edition design table that blends the worlds of interior design and conceptual pop art in a truly unique way. With this new work, I’m exploring the intersection of functionality and artistic expression, where design doesn’t just serve a purpose — it becomes the art itself

The Jacket is more than just a table; it’s a statement piece, a vibrant work of art that challenges traditional boundaries. The first edition features a striking bright yellow table with a bold black pop art print. It’s eye-catching, dynamic, and full of energy — much like the spirit of pop art itself. This first edition is limited to just seven pieces, making it a rare collector’s item, and I’m excited to share that several more editions are already in the pipeline.

Robust eye-catcher

The table is available exclusively at Het Arsenaal in Naarden and is priced at €9,500.00. When I created The Jacket, I wasn’t just thinking about how to design a functional object. I approached it with a creative eye, asking myself how I could innovate the space where art and interior design meet. The result is a piece that invites you to look at your environment in a new way — is it a table, or is it art? Well, it’s both.

For me, The Jacket is about pushing the limits of what furniture can be. It’s an art piece that you can use, live with, and enjoy, while also making a bold statement in any room. It’s an eye-catching center of attention that challenges expectations, and that’s what I love about it.

I can’t wait for you to experience it and see how it can transform your space, not just as a table, but as a work of art in your home.

The Jacket: A Collaboration with Jelle Engel

For The Jacket, I teamed up with product designer Jelle Engel to create a unique design object that blends functionality with art. We carefully selected high-quality materials, starting with a solid 7cm-thick plywood tabletop finished with scratch-resistant liquid gloss. The steel, powder-coated legs are securely attached with large screws, framing the piece with a clean, industrial feel.

The artwork itself combines computer editing, analogue painting, collage, and graffiti techniques. The result is a vibrant and dynamic pop art piece that challenges the traditional boundaries of design and art, making The Jacket both an eye-catching object and a functional table.

This exclusive piece is available at Het Arsenaal in Naarden until December 2013, the leading concept store in the Netherlands. It’s not the first time I’ve collaborated with Jan des Bouvrie; earlier this year, we launched a series of home appliances featuring my designs. I’m proud of this ongoing creative journey and excited to see how The Jacket resonates with collectors and design lovers.
